- Request the release log entry or authorization from Sheriff's Records with the same time range and person identifiers.
- Ask for the actual exit time, release authority, case or booking number, and destination or detainer notation.
- Compare the jail response with the filed court order and any receiving-agency status.
The official sheriff page is the source for the jail and Records contacts. Preserve the response date because a live custody status can change and a record can be corrected.
Note: “Seventy-two hours” should never be left undefined when a record search spans midnight or a change in office availability.
