TTCC Release Destinations
A person can leave Trousdale Turner Correctional Center without ending the Tennessee sentence. Parole places the person in the community under Board conditions and TDOC supervision. A grant alone does not cause physical release. TDOC says the release plan must be approved first, and other pre-release conditions may remain. Mandatory reentry supervision can also place an eligible person in the community while supervision continues.
Sentence expiration or discharge has a different legal basis. A move to another TDOC institution is a transfer, not release from state custody. A detainer can send the person to a county, federal, or other authority at the prison gate. Release from TTCC therefore answers only which facility stopped holding the person. Confirm a TTCC Release
The TDOC Felony Offender Information Lookup, known as FOIL, is the correct first search. TDOC says it covers current and former felony offenders in its custody or under its supervision. Search by TDOC ID when known. Otherwise, use last name, first name, and available narrowing facts. Compare date of birth, TDOC ID, State ID, aliases, and the assigned location before accepting a match.
- Open FOIL and search the exact TDOC ID or the person's name. Use identifiers and date of birth to resolve similar names.
- Open the matched detail and record the exact Supervision Status, Assigned Location, Sentence End Date, Release Eligibility Date, and parole fields with the observation date.
- Do not treat Release Eligibility Date as actual release. It marks a sentence milestone and FOIL warns that dates can change as court documents arrive.
- If parole is involved, check the Board decision and whether the release plan was approved. A hearing or grant is not proof of physical exit.
- Request the final release authorization and sentence-computation summary from TDOC when the online detail does not show the actual event or destination.

For a narrow records request, give the full offender name, TOMIS or TDOC number, date of birth, institution, and a precise description. Ask for the final release authorization and sentence-computation summary showing actual release date, release type or authority, sentence expiration, and detainer or transfer destination. TDOC says archive-search charges may apply and it will notify the requester, so do not send advance payment with the first request.
About Trousdale Turner Prison
TDOC identifies Trousdale Turner Correctional Center as a medium-security Tennessee state prison managed by CoreCivic under state authority. Management by a private contractor does not change the public custody system. Prisoners are tracked through TDOC and TOMIS. Which Trousdale Facility Released Them?
The presence of two very different facilities makes a phrase such as “Trousdale inmate” ambiguous. A person at Trousdale County Jail is in a local arrest, pretrial, or county-sentence system. A person at TTCC is in the state prison system, often after conviction elsewhere in Tennessee. The two records paths meet only when a transfer, detainer, or new booking connects them.
Start with the last facility, not the county name. A county-jail event calls for the sheriff's release entry and the local court order. A TTCC event calls for FOIL, TDOC release authorization, and, when relevant, Board or Community Supervision records. If a state-prison release is followed by a Trousdale County Jail booking, treat that as a new custody episode with its own booking and release record.

TTCC Private Management Records
CoreCivic's management role does not move Tennessee sentence history into a private or county lookup. TDOC lists TTCC within the state prison system, FOIL carries current and former state offender details, and TDOC policy governs release authorization. The Tennessee Board of Parole handles parole decisions. TDOC Community Supervision handles state probation and parole reporting after release.
Send state sentence and discharge questions to TDOC even though TTCC stands within Trousdale County. A county open-records request may return no responsive state record because the sheriff did not create or maintain it. Conversely, do not expect FOIL to return every person who spent a short time in Trousdale County Jail without entering TDOC felony custody or supervision.
This ownership rule also applies to corrections. An error in FOIL or sentence computation belongs with TDOC. A mistake in a Board decision record belongs with the Board. A county-jail booking error belongs with Sheriff's Records. Submitting the correction and its supporting court order to the system that created the entry avoids conflicting unofficial versions.
TTCC Release Record Fields
FOIL provides a public summary, while the release authorization and sentence computation carry the institutional detail. Read field labels as written. “Inactive” is not a complete release reason. “Parole” or “probation” confirms a supervision status but does not mean the sentence ended. Save the observation date because online status is time-sensitive. If the details are incomplete, request the actual release authorization. It may contain sentence expiration, release type, destination or detainer, approvals, and notification documentation, though privacy or safety exemptions can limit public fields.
TTCC Parole Release Checks
A parole calendar entry means a proceeding is scheduled. A hearing officer's recommendation is not the final Board action, and a grant can still depend on an approved plan and other conditions. Use FOIL's offender-specific parole information and request the final Board decision when the result is unclear. Copy the exact official outcome rather than turning a deferral, denial, or rescission into a release claim.
After actual parole release, FOIL may show parole and TDOC Community Supervision manages reporting. The assigned supervision office follows the approved community location, not the prison's Trousdale County address. A person leaving TTCC may therefore report in another Tennessee district or under an approved interstate arrangement. Office assignment confirms the supervision path, not the end of the sentence.
Mandatory reentry supervision also carries state oversight. Tennessee law may provide a qualifying community period near the end of certain sentences, while detainers, pending charges, custody classification, or recent disciplinary history can affect that route.
